Its Friday B*&$%@ well that’s what Dave and Chuck the Freak say on 89x the Radio station all the time and that’s what they called there most Recent concert that I attended. As a V.I.B!! Thanks to Bill the Marketing and Promotions dude and Joe. The Friday bitches ball is a concert that they host every year that is a free concert, which I think is awesome. In these tough times and well even if everyone wasn’t counting every penny they earn these days. Who doesn’t like going out for a fun night on someone else’s dime?
We had passes so we didn’t have to wait in line at the Fillmore when we arrived which was nice since many die-hard patrons (or crazy off their rockers. …Or lets just call them teenagers) had been waiting in line since the night before and the line was still wrapped around a few city block just an hour before the show began.
We were escorted in shown where the V.I.B section was, there was an amazing spread of deep fried goodness and mounds and mounds of double chins and spare tires that I could see my diet flying straight out the window. But one night of cheating is allowed because it was free and well I was important for the night and I didn’t want to be rude.
Since this was sort of a business outing for Joe he had to do his usual mingling, smoozing, wine dine, charm the pants off some people while I smiled and nodded and did my part of looking pretty.
Since I am a t-shirt collector and I heard a few people talking about a free t-shirt I had to find out where…so I took off in search of the goodies. I shortly found the free t-shirt and then wondered around the Fillmore for a few minutes. I love going to the Fillmore every time I have gone there for a concert I find something majestic about it. I can just picture my grandparents going there in their finest dress with my grandmother having a clutch purse and my grandfather in his tux…. And now there is a 16 year old walking around with torn off t-shirt and holey jeans and bleeding from his forehead because he just walked out of the mash pit. But the structure is still the same. O” how times have changed.
Anyways back to the concert, the first band that went on the Potty Mouth Sissy’s- was funny they have done some songs for 89x and did the O Lisa o Lisa o Lisa way song…which if you don’t listen to 89x you have no idea what im talking about. The second band is by far the best cover band I have ever heard in my entire life! Im not 100% sure sorry guys but I believe they were called The Underdog. They did a variety of songs and just rocked the house…after they went on then it was time for Sum 41.
Now I have had a crush on Derek for a long long time and well I still do he is just so adorable and has that baby face every girl loves. They played some old songs, some new songs and had a great mix. Im glad that we were in the V.I.B section because if I had to stand in the Moshing area I don’t think I would have enjoyed the Concert at all. I had room to move and shake my booty to the music. I think I embarrassed Joe a little with my dancing. I had a great time and that’s all that matters…doesn’t the saying go “ dance as though no one is watching” Well that’s what I did and I encourage you to always do that same!! To recap the night : good food , good music, free t-shirt…all in all a good time!
